Tall case brass dial clock, ca. 1765-1780.

Fruitwood tall-case musical clock. The hood has a molded broken-scroll pediment terminating in carved roundels, with three turned finials, a molded arch above the door, turned engaged columns at the front corners, and a glazed door with an astragal top. Waist with cove molding at the top and a case door with a molded edge, an astragal top and a circular glazed peephole. Base with cove molding at the top, and applied base panel with shaped sides, and a shaped skirt. Engraved brass dial with roman hour numerals and arabic minute numerals, engraved c-scrolls and acanthus leaves in the spandrels, a moon phase dial in the lunette, and engraved c-scrolls and vines in the lunette arch. Inside the chapter ring there is engraved ornament consisting of vines, leaves and c-scrolls, a calendar aperture and the inscription "Jacob Gorgas Near Ephrata." Sweep second hand. Eight day movement.
